Nydia Lilian
Nydia Lilian is a photographer that does black and white photography but they do a few kaleidoscope pictures and what they include is human body's making patterns. Some of their images have peoples whole body and some just have their other body parts like arms, legs and hands and some of their other kaleidoscopes have just patterns and no body parts of other people but the images are still in black and white the photographer also does Landscape, Abstract and Nature photography.
|
I like this image because of how the photographer used human body's to make a kaleidoscope and how the pattern keeps on going on in the middle of the image and how each body connects with the next one and the black background makes the viewer concentrate on just the body's in the middle of the image and how the pattern changes as you look further into the image and how it keeps on going on.
|
I like this image because of the photographer and how they have placed the legs of people if you try and look in the center of the image and try and follow where the line it will leads you to looking at a leg and and if you look at the leg from outside and follow the persons leg in it will lead you to the center so everything in the image leads to the middle of the image or will lead you to looking at another leg.

David and Micheal Collier
David and Micheal Collier produced kaleidoscopes that are produced from a small toy that have small pieces of mirror and glass that reflect of each other creating symmetrical patterns and these images haven't been photoshoped because these images have been made since 1985 and these images are colorful with lots of patterns inside of them and all look different from each other.
|
|
This image i like because of you are still able to tell what the original image is and in the picture there is a lot of colour to it and the patterns are the same as each other and the viewer is able to look at the picture from different angles and the image looks the same each time. The viewer is able to see a little bit of what the original image is and what this image does is keep the viewer thinking of what part of the image is the original before it was edited to make a kaleidoscope.
|
I like this image because of how the shapes that are created are not symmetrical but the shapes are kept the same of the other half of the image and how the image doesn't consistences of a lot of different object in the image but out of very little the image has a lot of shapes and different patterns in the image.

Brainstorm/Draft Sketch
Photoshoot 1 Osterley Park
When i went to take the photoshoot at Osterley park i wanted to take photos of objects up close to see how they would come out in photoshop. I tried to mix up the kind of photos i was taking and wanted to mostly take photos of animals that were at the park. I also tried to single out objects so in photoshop the one object was able to stand out and the background would make different shapes.
Three Strongest Pictures
These images are the strongest because of the way I was able to capture object on their own so when editing them you are able to see the one main object in the edited photo also the one objects on their own are bright and noticeable so with the berry on the branch you will be able to see more than one of them in the image also with the bird I can edited it so that more than one bird face will be able to be seen.
Photoshoot 2 Richmond Park
For this photoshoot i went to Richmond Park because at Richmond Park there is a lot of lakes and trees so when i went to do this photoshoot the day was sunny with no clouds in the sky. When i was taking the pictures i wanted to take pictures at different angles and of different objects i wanted to take pictures of trees that were huge so when i go into photoshop i can use loads of images to experiment on.
Strongest Pictures
These images are the strongest because of the sky in the background was clear and really blue so when taking pictures of the trees with the leafs on the you are able to see the blue in the background of the leafs and it didn't make the trees boring and grey. Also the images don't have people in the background of them so when editing them it will easier and look better because there isn't any people in the background of the images.
Photoshoot 3 Richmond Park
For this photoshoot I went to Richmond park again but this time I wanted to get mostly pictures of trees and branches and it went well because of the time I went the trees were losing their leaves and the trees were mostly branches. But what didn't go well was that the day was gloomy and the sky was mostly grey and it wasn't bright so the background of the images were grey and didn't have much colour to them except that the main focus was on the trees and not on the background.
Strongest Images
These images are the strongest from the photoshoot because of the way I was able to capture the trees and branches either together or alone but there are no other people in the way of the images and the pictures of the tree on their own when editing it the main object that will be edited will be the one tree and the images with the branches are in focus and when editing them you will be able to see the big and small branches merge together.
Photoshop Tutorial
1) First i got a triangle that i use as a template.
|
2) I place the triangle on to the picture that i want to make a kaleidoscope out of.
|
3) Then i use the magic wand tool to delete the background around the triangle.
|
4) after i have deleted the background of the image this is what it looks like and i get rid of the background so i can have a shape to start to make the kaleidoscope.
|
5) After i deleted the black triangle i can see what part of the triangle is going to be used to make the kaleidoscope
|
6) Then what i press to duplicate the layer i "CMD" and "J" to make another layer then what i do
|
7) Then i go to "Transform" so that i can rotate the image
|
8) After i find transform i go to rotate the image so that the sides of the image match up.
|
13) I crop the edges of the kaleidoscope so that the image isn't just floating the in the middle.
|
14) This is what the kaleidoscope looks like when the sides are cropped
|
15) Then i duplicate the image and find the side of the duplicated image and see what side matches so that the edges of the image is not empty
|
16) And i do this for all four edges of the kaleidoscope
|
17) This is the final product and as you can see is that instead of having a hexagon floating i filled out the edges so that the kaleidoscope looks full and has no empty gaps.
Experimentation
The image on the left was taken in Osterley Park on a bright/cloudy day and on the right i was able to make three images that look different from each other all from one picture. I was able to do this by just changing the position of the tree in photoshop and the outcome was always different and they made different shapes and different patterns from each other and with this image i was able to make three different images.
The image on the left was taken in Osterley and the two images on the right are part of the same image but what i did on photoshop was change what part of the image i used to create the kaleidoscope so i could see what different patterns would come out and what came out was images that look Christmas themed but you are not able to see what the original image was.
What went well with this image was the pattern that came out of it and what i did to achieve this is that i desaturated the image so the only colours that can be seen are black, white and grey and i think that it helped make the image more surreal and also what i did different from the other edited images is that i made the background black so it would match the image and so the image doesn't look out of place like my earlier edited images. But what didn't go so good with this edited image is that you are able to see what the original image is and what it was.
With this image i kept the colour of the image so i could see how it would come out and i think it came out good colour and pattern wise. What I did different with this image is that in photoshop instead of keeping the image in a hexagon shape in photoshop i duplicated the layer and matched it with the edges of the image so the whole page would be full and so the image isn't on its own.
With this image i did the same process with the last image so the image isn't left on its own and so the edges are full and i think with this image the pattern is good but you can not tell what the main object was or is but i think the pattern that came out was a good one and it makes the image look more surreal.
